The roads in Lofoten are narrow and fast-paced, with a seemingly endless series of bridges and tunnels. Most sections lack a central divider, posing a real challenge for visitors unfamiliar with the local driving conditions. On the day of our journey, a serious accident on the main E6 highway forced us to take a rural detour that added five hours to our drive. Along the way, we had several tense encounters with large oncoming vehicles on tight roads, making each pass feel like a close call.
Yet, as the scenery unfolded outside the window—the majestic mountains and sea of Lofoten bathed in northern light—all the driving stress felt entirely worth it.
