I'VE NEVER BUILT A BOAT BEFORE, but we are making a wooden boat! I always seem to start with that. So, this playlist will document the journey of DIY building a homemade boat. It's an 18' flats boat from a pattern and set of plans using marine plywood (meranti), scarfing, epoxy, thickened epoxy fillets, and fiberglass as part of the stitch and glue process, add to this dealing with amine blush. I welcome any questions or comments and will do all I can to interact as much as possible. It's bound to be entertaining since this is my first foray into wooden boat building. This is a pretty complex plywood project that involves tracing the patterns on plywood, then cutting them and assembling using epoxy and fiberglass traditional boatbuilding techniques. But it's a plywood boat build and we are indeed building a boat from scratch. I've done woodworking projects, but never something like this. It takes a few carpentry skills, some imagination, and lots of determination. Follow along. But rest assured, this DIY boat build project will be completed and it will be awesome. It already is. #saltboatworks #frs18 #frs18flats #plywoodboatbuilding #diyboatbuilding #boatbuilding #plywood #plywoodboat #fiberglassboat #fiberglassepoxy
