-40c is just around the corner as winter in already upon us. The first 5 inches of ice on the lake allowed us to access the island earlier this year which gave us a much needed head start for this winter camp season. We spend the day cooking some delicious camp food in the cast iron dutch oven over a camp fire. Knowing how to cook using a cast iron dutch oven has broadened out list of camp fire/ camping recipes. Surviving in frigid cold temperatures down to -40°C is completely doable as long as you follow these basic tips on how to set up a hot tent for winter camping with an internal frame. This method will work with Hot tents, Wall tents, Canvas tents, Outfitter tents or prospector tents.
