Everything you need to know about the famous Reinebringen hike on Lofoten, Norway⬇️

????The hike is around 5.8km round trip with 521m of elevation gain. Most of the distance is from the parking lot, with the actual stairs portion of the hike only being around 1km. That 1km is tough though as you’ll be climbing almost 2000 steps to the top!
⏰Start the hike early to avoid crowds! This hike does get very busy! The hike is only recommend to be done from May to September. While it’s open in the winter it can be VERY dangerous and is not recommended!
????️There is a large parking lot in the town of Reine. This is where you’ll start the hike. It’s about a 2km walk from the parking to the base of the stairs. Parking cost us around $5.50CAD per hour.
‼️What to Expect:
????️The views are absolutely insane! It’s well worth the 2000 steps!
????️Depending on what part of the season you go (we went early October, the steps can be slippery! At the beginning of our hike the stairs were a little wet but the sun quickly changed that and it was fine.
????️There’s several places to rest on the way up (little benches) We took several breaks and enjoyed the views on the way up.
????️Don’t underestimate the difficulty of this hike. It is quite steep and exposed in some sections. It’s not recommended for young children.
????️There’s a small area at the top of the stairs to take in the views. The trail actually continues after the end of the stairs but we didn’t do this part because it was muddy and honestly a bit sketchy. You can still get a great view from the end of the stairs!
????️If you are scared of heights (like me) this hike is challenging. The top is pretty exposed and I was quite scared lol. That being said, I am still very glad I did it!
????️This is a very popular trail and gets busy fast! It started to get very crowded at the top and made it a little less enjoyable for me.
