Today’s ride turned into one of the strangest days of the whole Nordkapp journey.

After leaving Honningsvåg and reflecting on the emotional weight of finally reaching Nordkapp, the road south took on a very different mood. What started as a normal travel day quickly became something much weirder; from eating whale steak and comparing it to ostrich, to spotting a helicopter carrying a strange circular object that looked straight out of a sci-fi film.

From there, I followed the road along the border with Finland, briefly confusing the Karasjohka River with the “Suomi” River thanks to Google Maps, before finally crossing into Finland and riding on toward Ivalo.

The day ends at the Arctic River Resort near Ivalo, where the road gives way to cabins, quiet, and a ridiculous number of mosquitos.

This is Nordkapp Ep.14 — a strange, transitional day on the road back south, where the journey felt just as surreal as the destination.
