Nordkapp, the North Cape, is marketed as the northernmost point in Europe. It’s not technically true, but when you’re standing on that cliff platform over the Barents Sea at one in the morning, watching the midnight sun hover just above the horizon, the details don’t really matter. Getting here feels like an expedition: you drive through Finnmark, Norway’s vast northern county, as the landscape gets more barren and treeless, cross over to the island of Magerøya, and then tackle the final stretch to the Cape itself. It’s less a simple viewpoint and more a journey to the edge of the map.
