Riding through the North Cape Tunnel (Nordkapptunnelen) on the way to Magerøya — June 2022, BMW R 1250 RT, raw GoPro audio and the wind, as always.
This is the full run through one of the most impressive stretches of the whole trip: a 6.9 km subsea tunnel that drops to 212 metres below sea level, with a 10% gradient on the way down and back up. It's the northernmost undersea road tunnel in Norway, opened in 1999, and it's the only road link between the mainland and the island where North Cape sits.
No music, no commentary — just over 7 minutes of the descent under the Barents Sea and the climb back to daylight. Sit back, breathe, and ride along. ????????️
A few facts about the tunnel:
• Length: 6.875 km
• Depth: 212 m below sea level
• Max gradient: 10%
• Opened: 1999
• Connects mainland Norway to Magerøya, home of Nordkapp
▶️ More clips from the trip to Nordkapp coming, one ride at a time.
