Nine years ago, during my motorcycle journey, I rode Norway’s famous Lysebotn road for the first time. This time, I returned in a campervan — and discovered something I never expected.

Just days before crossing into Norway, I received a message from an old friend I met while riding around the world. Fifteen years after we last saw each other, we somehow entered Norway at the same time, both heading north toward Nordkapp.

We chose to meet at Lysebotn, a dramatic mountain road with 27 hairpins dropping nearly 1,000 metres into Lysefjord — one of the most breathtaking fjords in Norway.

What followed was a perfect Norway day: winding roads, unexpected reunions, a sold-out ferry, and a quiet night surrounded by incredible scenery. Sometimes the road brings you back exactly where you need to be.
