We took two weeks off and drove from Oulu, Finland all the way to the North Cape in Norway the northernmost point of mainland Europe. This is Part 1 of our Lapland road trip, covering 1,000 km through Finnish, Swedish, and Norwegian Lapland in the most underrated season: autumn.
From endless Finnish forests and misty river trails to crossing the Arctic Circle, spotting a rare albino reindeer, and finally standing at the edge of the continent at 71° North, this trip was everything we hoped for and more.
Most people visit Lapland in winter for snow and northern lights. We went in late September and found something even better: the ruska (Finnish autumn colors), barely any tourists, reindeer on every road, and nature so dramatic it did not feel real.

Part 2 coming
soon: Hammerfest + the return to Finland!
