In the summer of 2020 we would fulfill a dream of driving all the way to the Nordkapp by motorbike.
The trip from Alta to Nordkapp and on to Havøysund offers some of the most spectacular nature experiences in Norway. Here you get to experience raw arctic nature.

From Alta, the journey starts through lush valleys and quiet fjords, where the E6 winds along the Repparfjord and up towards Skaidi. Here you will encounter typical northern Norwegian nature with low mountains, birch forests and rivers that mirror the landscape. At Olderfjord, the landscape gradually opens up towards the sea.

On the way to Nordkapp along the E69, a more dramatic landscape awaits. Steep mountain walls meet the open Barents Sea, and tunnels cut through the mountain massifs. The Nordkapp Tunnel, which takes you under the sea, is an experience in itself. The Nordkapp plateau, with its iconic globe and view of the endless Arctic Ocean, gives us a feeling of standing at the end of the world.
The weather can change quickly, from sun to rain and wind. We were prepared for cool temperatures, but the arctic wind near the coast was a bit chilly, so it was good to have a cup of coffee at the Nordkapp centre.

From Nordkapp we drive back to Olderfjord and on to Havøysund on RV 886, the landscape changes again. The road passes through a desolate but beautiful coastal landscape, with sea cliffs, small lakes and views of the islands beyond. Havøysund, with its characteristic bridge and charming harbor that is well sheltered. We had dinner at the hotel and drove back to Selvika to pitch the tents. later in the evening, two married couples from Harstad arrived who we got to know well during the evening, wonderful people. It was a perfect end to the trip with a bonfire and something good in the glass.
